“Captured in 2003 before Seattle raised Jordan Rain started Yogoman Burning Band in 2005, this is a low fi, indie, shoegaze, cinematic, soundtrack of life in the Pacific Northwest, specifically Bellingham, WA where it was recorded. '9 Song' is an odyssey full of perfect imperfections one looks forward to hearing upon every listen. Dirty, crunchy, sample-worthy original NW beats with New Orleans, Arabic, Brazilian and Taiko flavors. This album is full of improvisation, spontaneity, polyrhythms and overall tangible yet mysterious textures because of its raw and under produced nature as a recording. Captured primitively with one pinhole condenser mic in a dated laptop screen, this is Rain's finest work that plays like a concept album, though it was not intentionally conceived as such.
